Crouching Lion Hike is a semi-easy hike. This steep, but quick, multi-tier trail is located just south of Kahana Bay. You’ll need athletic shoes, lots of water, sunscreen, sunglass/hat, and energy. This buns burning hike not only is an awesome workout, and boasts some of the the best views of the coast. You don’t want to miss it!
Byodo-In Temple is located in Kanoehe, HI. Located at the back of Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, it sits at the base of the Ko’olau Mountain Range. The temple is a local gem. If it’s been raining recently, you’ll be surrounded by waterfalls cascading down the mountains. It’s a dreamy as it seems.
Akaka Falls State Park is a popular spot to take a leisurely walk. It boasts not 1, but 2 waterfalls. Kahuna Falls and Akaka Falls. The waterfalls are surrounded by lush mountains with bamboo, ferns, flowers, orchids, and many other amazing flora. It takes about 40 minutes round trip. Easy, and perfect for lazy days.
Volcanoes National Park is the home to Kilauea, one of the most active volcanoes on earth. The park has many activities from hikes, visitor centers, scenic drives, museums, walk through a lava tube, etc. It’s definitely worth an afternoon of exploration. After the sun goes down, you can see the red glow of active lava!
