Akaka Falls | Things to do in Hawaii, Big Island

Akaka Falls State Park is a popular spot to take a leisurely walk. It boasts not 1, but 2 waterfalls. Kahuna Falls and Akaka Falls. The waterfalls are surrounded by lush mountains with bamboo, ferns, flowers, orchids, and many other amazing flora. It takes about 40 minutes round trip. Easy, and perfect for lazy days.

We chose to do the loop trail which leads to Kahuna Falls first. Kahuna Falls is 100 ft. tall. We had a hard time seeing it, so we moved along fairly quickly.

We stopped at a local fruit stand for fresh cut coconut and pineapple!
