Lanikai Pillbox Hike | Things to do in Hawaii, Oahu

This kind of easy hike is great for everyone. It’s steep at the beginning and at the first pillbox, but other than that it’s good. The view the whole time is unbelievable. You can follow the entire trail for a while, but I’ve never done it. Probably a few hours. You can turn back whenever you want, and wont get lost— which is a huge perk in my book.

Hiking up to the first pillbox and back was about 45 minutes. It’s fast, sweaty, and all around awesome. The view is from Lanikai onto the Mokulua islands. These islands are accessible by kayak, or stand up paddle. On the way there, the water is crystal clear. Most gorgeous place on earth.

Back to hiking. Watch your step otherwise you could fall off a cliff and die. No seriously. It’s pretty windy so don’t go too close. If you decide to take a photo, please. for the love watch where you are. Also, don’t go after a rain. It’s muddy and steep. Not a good combo.

You’ll need: Hat, Sunnies, Closed toe shoes, sunscreen, sweat towel, and water. Maybe a small snack too.
